August Guiding Questions for Reflection & Introspection

Coming Into Your Own

The August Guided Journal Worksheet is built for the eclipse corridor between the August 12 Leo solar eclipse and the August 27 Pisces lunar eclipse. Six questions on waiting, loneliness, and what steadiness looks like when a transition runs long, plus three companion articles on standing in the threshold and the stone and herb pairing built for the long haul.

The Long Threshold: An August Eclipse Season

August sits inside an eclipse corridor. A total solar eclipse in Leo falls on August 12, and a partial lunar eclipse in Pisces follows on August 27. You're standing in the seventeen days between them, and if the path has been feeling lonely and the waiting has gone on longer than you expected, you're not the only one.

This month's questions are built for that specific stretch: waiting that's already gone on longer than expected, and steadiness that has to hold up for months at a time. Look honestly at what the waiting has cost you, and what your body already knows that you haven't said out loud yet.

August Focus: Waiting • Steadiness • Honest Rest • The Long Threshold • Standing Strong

August at a Glance:

  1. What have you been waiting on that hasn't arrived?
➣ Name the specific thing you've been waiting on, however small or embarrassing it feels to admit.
  2. How are you performing your spirituality instead of living it?
➣ Notice the practices you keep because you think you should, though they stopped feeding you a while ago.
  3. Which parts of your inner life do you have no one to talk to about?
➣ You probably already know which parts these are. Naming them here is enough.
  4. What do you sense in your body that you can't put into words?
➣ Describe where you feel it and when it started, whether or not you can name what it is.
  5. What does steady look like for you if the transition is going to be long?
➣ Steadiness you can perform for a season is different from steadiness you can keep for years.
  6. What are you making yourself do to "earn" rest?
➣ Look at the conditions you've put on rest, including the ones you've never said out loud.

"I name what I'm waiting on. I stand in the in-between without rushing it. I build the kind of steady that lasts."
